About the role
QoT places Quality Engineers with clients across banking and payments, iGaming, telco, insurance, and general technology. As a Junior Quality Engineer, you'll support test analysis, test design, and manual execution under the guidance of more senior engineers, while building your automation and technical testing skills. The specific client and domain will be confirmed as part of the placement process.
What you'll do
- Review requirements under guidance to identify test scenarios, risks, and acceptance conditions.
- Design and execute manual test cases, capturing clear, traceable evidence.
- Log, classify, and track defects with clear reproduction steps and expected vs. actual outcomes.
- Contribute to basic automated test scripts under supervision, following approved standards.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide accurate updates on test progress and blockers.
- Build capability in automation, API testing, and modern quality engineering practices through hands-on exposure and coaching.
What you'll need
- 0–2 years' experience in software testing, gained through work, a graduate programme, internship, or project delivery.
- Foundational experience in manual testing: test analysis, execution, and defect logging.
- Basic awareness of APIs, test environments, version control, and CI/CD concepts.
- Clear written and verbal communication with technical and business stakeholders.
- Eagerness to learn automation, scripting, and modern quality engineering practices.
Nice to have
- Exposure to automation, scripting, or API testing tools (e.g. Postman, Playwright, Selenium).
- ISTQB Foundation Level certification, or working toward one.
- Exposure to Agile/Scrum delivery.
- Exposure to banking/payments, iGaming, telco, or insurance environments.
Work setup
- Location: Cape Town, Johannesburg, or Durban, with hybrid/remote flexibility depending on client requirements.
- Employment type: contract, with length set by the client engagement. Some roles are fixed-term, others roll on an ongoing basis.
- Some travel to client sites may be required depending on engagement.
