About the role

QoT places Quality Engineers with clients across banking and payments, iGaming, telco, insurance, and general technology. As a Senior Quality Engineer, you'll lead quality engineering practices within a delivery team, shaping test strategy, driving automation architecture, and raising the technical bar for the engineers around you. The specific client and domain will be confirmed as part of the placement process.

What you'll do

  • Lead test analysis and design across projects, defining risk-aware, traceable test approaches.
  • Design and evolve scalable, reusable automation frameworks and engineering patterns.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and help define meaningful quality gates.
  • Lead root-cause analysis on recurring defects, unstable tests, and process inefficiencies.
  • Mentor and coach quality engineers, and act as a technical point of reference for the team.
  • Work closely with delivery leads, developers, and client stakeholders on quality expectations.

What you'll need

  • 6–9 years' experience spanning manual testing fundamentals, automation engineering, and delivery leadership.
  • Demonstrated experience defining quality approaches, framework patterns, and continuous testing integration.
  • Strong working knowledge of test automation frameworks and CI/CD-integrated testing (e.g. Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, RestAssured).
  • Solid understanding of Agile delivery, defect management, and test strategy at a project or programme level.
  • Experience mentoring engineers and communicating quality risk to technical and business stakeholders.

Nice to have

  • Exposure to banking/payments, iGaming, telco, or insurance environments.
  • ISTQB Advanced certification or equivalent.
  • Cloud or DevOps-aligned certification (Azure, AWS, or similar).
  • Experience with performance, security, or AI-assisted testing practices.

Work setup

  • Location: Cape Town, Johannesburg, or Durban, with hybrid/remote flexibility depending on client requirements.
  • Employment type: contract, with length set by the client engagement. Some roles are fixed-term, others roll on an ongoing basis.
  • Some travel to client sites may be required depending on engagement.
